Animated Graph Of The Most Popular Memes, From 2011 - 2020

          January 13, 2020

This is an animated timeline of the most popular memes from 2011 to 2020, as according to Know Your Meme. They come and go so quickly, don't they? What's your favorite?Honestly, half of these I didn't even recognize. How is that possible?Do I not spend enough time on the toilet staring at my phone?Because I feel like I do.I probably spend more time on the can in a year than even people with irritable bowel syndrome spend in a lifetime."Is it true you put a mini fridge in there?"Ahahahahhaha, my girlfriend thinks it's disgusting.

Keep going for the video, with the musical accompaniment of 'Know Your Meme' by Hot Dad.

What The?: This Crazy Visual Illusion

          January 13, 2020

This is a video of a visual illusion made by optical illusion creator (and 2017 Optical Illusion Contest winner!) Gianni Sarcone and smoothly animated by Chris Said.None of the colored lines are moving and they're all the same length.Pretty wild, right?"Like Mr. Toad's Ride."Solid reference, like a healthy turd -- one you can really be proud of for eating right and not drinking too much.

Thanks to Carey A, who agrees the greatest optical illusion of all time is this hologram we're living in that we call reality.

Guy Builds And Launches Giant Paper Airplane (Actually Insulating Foam Board) Off Mountaintop

          January 13, 2020

This is a video of Youtuber Nick Uhas constructing and launching a giant paper airplane (actually made of insulating foam board) off the top of a mountain. He really spends a fair amount of time determining the best design so he can get maximum flight time out of the thing instead of it just nose-diving straight to the ground like my plane did."You built it out of rocks."I'm the first little pig, I get it.

          Keep going for the video.

          sega-synthesizer.jpg

These are two videos of Youtuber LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER building, discussing and demonstrating a giant synthesizer he created using a Sega Master System (Genesis in the U.S.).Impressive I suppose, but I beat Altered Beast AND Golden Axe with a Game Genie.

Keep going for the main video, then another with a more in-depth look at the synth.

Good Ideas: Bars Are Installing White Claw Claw Machines

          January 13, 2020

          white-claw-claw-machines.jpg

Because people can't get enough alcoholic seltzer, several bars across the country (including but by no means limited to Hugo's Taproom Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Jack's American Pub and Milwaukee Brat House, both in Milwaukee, and El Hefe in Scottsdale, Arizona) have installed White Claw claw machines. It appears some have actual full cans in the machine, while others, like Ganbal's Social Club in Kansas City, Missouri, has empty cans that you exchange at the bar for a full, cold one.Man, I'm so good at claw machines (proof of some of my winnings, including a bull whip) I would empty those things. Then trade the White Claws to other bar patrons for something I actually want to drink."What do you want to drink?"From the Fountain of Youth!"No seriously."The blood of my enemies!"I'm buying."Double shot of tequila with a vodka back.

Keep going for several videos of my new favorite pastime.

Nooooope: Carnival Ride Goes Horribly Wrong

          January 13, 2020

This is a video from a carnival in Antipolo City in the Philippines when an entire two-person seat partially detaches from one of those Spin Puke And Die rides. That is terrifying.Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured (despite that one girl actually getting ejected). That is a relief, although you're going to have a hard time convincing me to ride any of the rides the next time the fair comes to town."You scared, GW?"Hell no, I'm just not wasting money on ride tickets when that money could be better spent on corn dogs and deep fried everythings."Admit it, you're scared."Only of ghosts and my girlfriend's driving.

Keep going for the video (actual malfunction at 1:25) while I speculate if the person filming intentionally loosened some bolts.

A Real-Life Transformer Robotic Toy (That Costs $500)

          January 13, 2020

This is a video of the Robosen T9 transforming robotic toy.It costs $500 but actually does some real transforming, a lot more than I can say for my physique, despite owning one of those top of the line $3,000 exercise bikes."You have to use it."That's lame, bragging about it should be enough.

You can literally say "Transform," one of several voice commands, and the Robosen T9 will do so.

And that's just the beginning: with 22 programmable servo motors, this 3.2 pound robot can walk, drive, pose, dance, even do some push-ups on cue. You can program new gestures with a few different interfaces on tablet or phone, including the popular kid-friendly Scratch visual programming language that other beginner robots often use, and control it directly with a touchscreen joystick and buttons as well.

Wow.It all sounds pretty sweet minus the $500 price tag (already available on Amazon).Unfortunately, thanks to my fancy new dust collector, My Transformer toy budget is pretty much identical to what it was when I was a kid."What was your allowance?"Haha, do I look like a guy who's ever made his bed?

Keep going for a video from CES, as well as a much longer 18-minute video showcasing the entirety of the T9's capabilities.
